USA Taekwondo Earns A1 Rating for Third Consecutive Year, Ranks In World's Top Two at World Taekwondo Assembly
USATKD receives the highest possible grade from World Taekwondo for the third straight year, maintaining its place among the top-ranked Member National Associations worldwide
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. USA Taekwondo (USATKD) today announced it has received an A1 rating from World Taekwondo - the highest classification available - for the third consecutive year at the World Taekwondo Assembly. Ranked #1 globally in each of the past two years, USATKD remains among the very top nations in the world, finishing #2 overall among all 215 Member National Associations this year.
World Taekwondo assesses all areas of MNA operation in determining its ratings, evaluating governance, high-performance results, athlete welfare, participation, development programming, and organizational management. This year, just 12 of 215 member countries achieved an A1 rating, up from 7 last year, reflecting both the growing strength of the global taekwondo community and the increasingly high bar required to reach the top classification.
For USATKD, three consecutive A1 ratings represent more than a single achievement. They signal a consistent, organization-wide commitment to building the structures, programs, and culture needed to compete and lead at the highest level."
Receiving an A1 rating for the third time in a row and cementing our position among the very best taekwondo nations in the world is a testament to every person in this organization - our staff, our coaches, our athletes, and our volunteers. World Taekwondo looks at everything, and to rank so highly three years running, in the face of fierce and increasing competition from around the globe, is something we are incredibly proud of."
