ATHLETE OMBUDS

The Team USA Athlete Ombuds serves as a safe, independent, confidential place for Team USA Athletes to seek advice about any sport-related rule, policy, or process; how to navigate raising or responding to concerns; or access legal and mental health resources.

The Office of the Athlete Ombuds and its staff (the Athlete Ombuds) is a resource available to Team USA Athletes in the Olympic and Paralympic Movement. The focus is to serve athletes who represent the U.S. in international competition. The Athlete Ombuds operates on the core principles of confidentiality, privacy, independence, and impartiality, and strives to:

  • Empower Team USA Athletes to better understand their rights, responsibilities, and resources within the Olympic and Paralympic Movement
  • Provide a safe place for Team USA Athletes to seek advice and assistance in challenging or difficult situations
  • Empower Team USA athletes to raise and/or resolve concerns and grievances
  • Help promote fairness, transparency, timeliness, and consistent application of policies and procedures relevant to Team USA Athletes
