USA Taekwondo Secretary General Jay Warwick Re-Elected to World Taekwondo Council

WUXI, CHINA (October 23, 2025) — USA Taekwondo Secretary General and Chief Operating Officer Jay Warwick has been re-elected to the World Taekwondo Council, the governing body responsible for guiding the global growth and direction of the Olympic sport.

The election came this afternoon during the World Taekwondo General Assembly in Wuxi, China, where delegates from 213 nations gathered on the eve of the 2025 World Taekwondo Championships. Warwick’s re-election extends his service as one of the most experienced international leaders in Taekwondo and ensures that the United States continues to play an active and meaningful role in shaping the sport’s future.

I’m deeply humbled and honored to be re-elected to the World Taekwondo Council,” said Jay Warwick. “It’s a privilege to continue serving the global Taekwondo family alongside so many respected colleagues. This is an important period for our sport as we move toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, and it’s vital that the United States has a meaningful voice at the table. I’m committed to working collaboratively to strengthen Taekwondo worldwide.

Warwick, a former World and Olympic medalist and longtime international sport administrator, has served on the World Taekwondo Council since 2021. In his role as Secretary General and COO of USA Taekwondo, he has played a key part in the organization’s transformation and its recent recognition as the #1 World Taekwondo Member National Association for the second consecutive year.

USA Taekwondo CEO Steve McNally praised Warwick’s re-election, noting its significance for American Taekwondo’s growing global influence.

Jay’s re-election is not only a recognition of his leadership but of the respect the United States has earned within the international Taekwondo community,” McNally said. “It’s essential that our athletes, coaches, and members know their voices are represented at the highest level and Jay does that with integrity and excellence.
