USATKD ANNOUNCES GRAND PRIX FINAL POSTPONEMENT

(August 23, 2021) - USATKD has taken the difficult decision to postpone the U.S. Grand Prix Final until the beginning of 2022.

The event, which was scheduled for October in Palm Beach, Florida, will be rescheduled as soon as it is safe to do so; with the hope being to now host it in late January of 2022.

With the delay of the World Taekwondo Championships due to Covid-19, rising infection rates in the United States and uncertainty surrounding the duration of the efficacy of the vaccines, USATKD has an opportunity to be cautious and has decided that it is the safest option not to take any risks with the health and safety of its participants right now, and will take the time needed to stage this important event safely.

We will shortly publish amended National Team Pathways for the 2022 Senior World Championships incorporating this change. All qualification to date will remain valid, with Junior athletes who qualified for the original event but who age up into seniors for the rearranged event in 2022 also becoming eligible for the senior Grand Prix Final.
