Selection for World Taekwondo Olympic Weight Category for 2023

(January 3, 2023) – At the start of each year, the World Taekwondo Olympic Weight Category selection window opens.
To select and declare a World Taekwondo Olympic Weight Category, United States Senior Athletes (17 years & older) must send an email to the USATKD High Performance department via Eric Wininger @ ewininger@usatkd.org by 5:00 pm MST, January 23rd, 2023.

The weight category selected will be where World Taekwondo Olympic Weight Division points earned are allocated. US Athletes, who are 17 years of age (born in 2006 or earlier) or older must declare a World Taekwondo Olympic Weight division. Any eligible junior points earned will be delegated to the World Taekwondo Olympic Weight division declared.

Points will be transferred only from the overlapping World Taekwondo World Weight Division to the newly selected World Taekwondo Olympic Weight Division as following default allocation:


Please Note: NO World Taekwondo Olympic Weight Category Selection changes will

be permitted after January 23, 2023.
