Kristina Teachout Shines in Women's Taekwondo Victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics
Paris, France – August 9, 2024 – Kristina Teachout of Team USA delivered a commanding performance in the Women's Taekwondo -67kg division, securing a decisive victory against France's Magda Wiet-Henin at the Grand Palais during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Teachout's skill and determination were evident from the start. In the first round, she landed a powerful head kick that initially went unacknowledged, prompting her to call upon Coach Gareth Brown to initiate a video review. The review confirmed the head kick, awarding her 3 points and setting the tone for the rest of the match. Teachout went on to win the first round with a score of 11-8, showcasing her precision and agility:
• Head Kick: 3 points at 1:52 minute (confirmed after video review)
• Body Kick: 2 points at 1:46 minute
• Head Kick: 3 points at 1:09 minute
• Head Kick: 3 points with 46 seconds left
In the second round, Teachout continued to dominate, unleashing an impressive turning kick to the body that scored 4 points for its technical execution. Her aggressive strategy and skillful maneuvers left Wiet-Henin, the hometown favorite and reigning 2023 World Champion, unable to respond. Teachout sealed her victory with a 9-0 score in the second round:
• Turning Kick to Body: 4 points at 1:40 minute
• Head Kick: 3 points with 10 seconds left
• Body Kick: 2 points with 6 seconds left
Kristina Teachout's victory over Wiet-Henin, who won the World Championship in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2023, underscores her exceptional talent and determination.
