Elite Athlete Health Insurance

The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) Elite Athlete Health Insurance Program (EAHI) provides a level of base support by offering a program of health and major medical insurance for designated Elite Athletes in order to minimize the out-of-pocket expenses incurred by insured athletes for costs of medical care.

January 1, 2018:

Athletes may be offered EAHI based on achieving one of the following criteria:

• Top 20 WT Olympic Ranking 
• 2017 World Championship finish 9th or better 
• Athletes invited to the 2017 Grand Prix Final 

July 1, 2018:

Athletes may be offered EAHI based on achieving one of the following criteria:

• Top 20 WT Olympic Ranking 
• 2017 World Championship finish 9th or better 
• Athletes Invited to the 2017 Grand Prix Final 

Once an insurance slot is offered to an athlete, they will have 30 days to activate their coverage. Athletes not activating their coverage within 30 days of notification of eligibility will forfeit their slot. Should an athlete decline his/her slot, that slot will remain unused.  

Athletes who no longer meet the criteria will be removed from EAHI effective immediately. Athletes who are removed (by choice or no longer meeting the criteria) have the option to remain on the insurance program at their own cost for up to one year.
