KUKKIWON APPOINTS CHAIR AND LEADERSHIP FOR THE 2026 TECHNICAL COMMITTEE
Kukkiwon has appointed Kang Dae-in, former Vice Chair of the Technical Committee of the Korea Taekwondo Association, as the Chair of the 2026 Kukkiwon Technical Committee. The appointment ceremony was held on February 2 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kukkiwon lecture hall, where Kukkiwon President Yoon Woong-seok presented letters of appointment to Chair Kang and the newly appointed leadership members.
Chair Kang, a 9th Dan Taekwondo master, previously served as President of the Dongdaemun-gu Taekwondo Association and as the Head Coach of the Korean National Team at the 2010 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships. He has also served as Head of the Records Subcommittee and later as Vice Chair of the Technical Committee of the Korea Taekwondo Association.
During the ceremony, President Yoon emphasized the importance of the committee’s role, stating, “As members of the Technical Committee representing Kukkiwon, I hope you recognize the significant responsibility entrusted to you and carry out your roles with dedication. I also encourage you to work together to strengthen Kukkiwon’s credibility both domestically and internationally.”
Upon his appointment, Chair Kang expressed his commitment to the role, stating, “I feel a strong sense of responsibility in taking on this important position as Chair of the Technical Committee. I will do my utmost to ensure that the committee fulfills its core responsibilities and continues to support the development of Taekwondo.”
The Technical Committee leadership consists of Chair Kang, Vice Chairs **Yoon Sung-gi, Lee Sung-yong, Lee Si-yong, Cheon Woo-pil, Jung Woo-soo, Lee Hee-woo, Kwon Hyung-kyu, and Son Je-yeol, along with Secretary Lee Jae-wook.
In addition, chairs of the committee’s subcommittees were also appointed during the ceremony. These subcommittees include Promotion Test Administration, Breaking, Cooperation, Dojang Affairs, Competition, Refereeing, Military and Police, International Affairs, Women’s Affairs, Protocol, Planning, Records, Public Relations, Senior (Silver), Multicultural Affairs, Disability Affairs, and Discipline.
Following the appointment of the leadership and subcommittee chairs, Kukkiwon plans to complete the full organizational structure of the Technical Committee in the near future.
The Technical Committee is established annually to support the effective implementation of Kukkiwon’s major programs and initiatives and to further strengthen the technical foundation of Taekwondo.
